This is my third year teaching at Sleepy Hollow Elementary. I graduated Judson University in 2005 with a Bachelor's of Arts degree in Communication Arts (emphasis on Analysis of Literature) and a minor in Graphic Design. I went back to earn my Illinois Teaching Certification in 2008. I absolutely love working with children and enjoy engaging in the learning and discovering process of learning! Parker Palmer's influence on discovering the self through a metacognitive process has been a foundational thread embedded in my teaching philosophy. “I want to learn how to hold the paradoxical poles of my identity together, to embrace the profoundly opposite truths that my sense of self is deeply dependent on others dancing with me and that I still have a sense of self when no one wants to dance.” Children are pure magic! Watching them learn about themselves in relation to the other and about the world around us is an opportunity I am honored to be a part of.
